Revolution, romance and love, is what makes In’am in 1974, join the Palestinian Liberation Movement, PLO. Her decision which means moving her family to Lebanon, changes not only her world, but that of her daughter, Azza. Forty years later, the filmmaker, recalls her mothers life journey into what becomes a road movie of a family escaping wars and chasing dreams. Today, as she bids her mother farewell and struggles to accept her departure, she reflects on her mothers dreams for liberation and emancipation that have not been fulfilled. The tale of the a mother and her daughter becomes the tale of Palestine and the Palestinians. The filmic journey from the past to the present, shifts between humor, fantasy and reality. A collage of PLO film archives, and fictional archive that are coupled with personal archives and animation, come together to offer a personal feminist take, on the Palestinian revolution and struggle. It is a tale of joy, pain, dreams and disappointments that is told in My Mother & Other Revolutionary Matters.
The Void Project is a multi media art project which includes film productions, film restoration and Exhibitions. The Project is founded and run by filmmaker Azza EL Hassan.
